WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Two second-half goals gave No. 6 Wake Forest a 2-0 win over No. 15 South Carolina on Tuesday night at Dennie Spry Stadium.

In the 52nd minute, Jacori Hayes made a run down the right side and fired his shot across the goal mouth, pinging it off the inside of the post and in for the first goal of the match.

In the 73rd, Wake Forest made it 2-0 when Taye Gent put away the cross from the other post. Jack Harrison picked up his second assist, while Michael Gamble also helped with Gent’s score.

South Carolina had a pair of good looks at goal in the second half. In the 54th, junior Danny Deakin bent his free kick from the right wing toward the inside post, but Wake Forest goalkeeper Alec Ferrell made a diving stop. In the 76th, senior Jeffrey Torda shot one from the close left wing as Ferrell charged, with the green-clad keeper making a reaction save.
