Gamecock senior Abigail Pait with Gamecock football alum A.J. Cann after earning horsemanship M.O.P. honors in the Gamecocks’ win over Tennessee-Martin on January 30.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – University of South Carolina senior Abigail Pait earned All-America honors from the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA), it was announced yesterday. It marks the 36th All-America honor for the Gamecock equestrian program.

“We’re thrilled for Abigail and she’s very deserving of this national recognition,” South Carolina head coach Boo Major said. “She’s a tremendous teammate, a tough competitor, and a great captain for our western team.”

Pait currently has a 10-4-1 horsemanship record. Her 10 horsemanship victories this season leads the Gamecocks in single-event wins. She also has won four Most Outstanding Performer awards this season. Pait went 2-0 at the SEC Championship with one M.O.P., and became the first Gamecock horsemanship rider in program history to be named to the SEC All-Championship Team.

The Gamecocks are back in action on Thursday, April 14 when the Gamecocks face SMU in the opening round at the NCEA National Championship in Waco, Texas.
