LEON, GUANAJUATO, Mexico — University of South Carolina Men’s Golf alumnus Wesley Bryan won the Web.com Tour’s El Bosque Mexico Championship presented by INNOVA on Sunday, his second Web.com Tour victory of the 2016 season. Bryan posted a four-round total of 269 (-19) to win the tournament by four strokes.
Bryan moved into contention in Mexico with a course-record 63 (-9) in the second round. He entered the final day two shots off the pace but breezed to victory with a 67 (-5) in his last round.
Bryan’s victory in Mexico comes just over a month after the former Gamecock captured the Chitimacha Louisiana Open presented by NACHER for his first career Web.com Tour triumph. He entered the week second on the Web.com Tour’s money list and will move into the top position with his $117,000 prize from winning in Mexico.
A Gamecock from 2008-12, Bryan was a two-time PING All-Region Team selection. He was the medalist at two collegiate events, the 2008 Rees Jones Intercollegiate and the 2012 Seahawk Invitational, and he ranks 10th on Carolina’s career scoring average list.
Bryan and the Web.com Tour will head to Newburgh, Ind., next week for the United Leasing & Finance Championship. The Tour’s top-25 money winners at the conclusion of the season will earn their PGA TOUR cards.
