Dambaugh Honored with First Team All-America Selection

May 24, 2016

EUGENE, Ore. — University of South Carolina Women’s Golf junior Katelyn Dambaugh was honored as a First Team All-American, the Women’s Golf Coaches Association announced today at the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship. Dambaugh is one of just 11 NCAA Division I golfers named to the All-America Team.

A native of Goose Creek, S.C., Dambaugh entered the week ranked second in the NCAA and tops on the Gamecock squad with a 71.03 stroke average. The junior has posted eight top-10 finishes in 10 tournaments this season and won medalist honors at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional.

Dambaugh finished T-11th at the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championship in Eugene, Ore., with a four-round score of 287 (-1). Led by her efforts, the Gamecocks finished seventh on the team leaderboard and advanced to the match play quarterfinals for the first time in program history.

The All-America honor is the second in as many seasons for Dambaugh, who was an honorable mention selection in 2015 according to Golfweek. She is one of seven Gamecocks to record an All-America honor and one of four First Team selections, joining Justine Dreher (2015), Siew Ai Lim (1995) and Kristy McPherson (2001-03).
