PINHURST, N.C. – South Carolina women’s golfer Katelyn Dambaugh posted a third-round 75 (+4) on Wednesday to clinch a top-16 finish and advance to match play at the 114th Women’s North & South Amateur Championship. The rising senior placed in a tie for ninth, totaling a 54-hole score of 226 (+13) at Pinehurst Resort.

Dambaugh, last year’s stroke-play medalist at the event, earned the No. 11 seed and will face sixth-seeded Kacie Komoto of Northwestern in the round of 16 on Thursday morning. The quarterfinals will take place tomorrow afternoon before the semifinals and 18-hole final get underway on Friday. Dambaugh advanced to the semifinal stage of the tournament last summer.

After opening her round on Pinehurst No. 2 with five straight pars, Dambaugh recorded a double-bogey on No. 6 and made the turn at 3-over 38. She birdied the par-5 10th and played her final seven holes at even following a bogey on No. 15 and a birdie on No. 16. The Goose Creek, S.C., native’s three birdies on Wednesday were the most in a round for her this week. Dambaugh, the top-ranked player in the field, opened the tournament with a 73 (+2) on Monday before carding a 78 (+7) in Tuesday’s second round.

Tomorrow’s match between Dambaugh and Komoto is set to get underway at 7:56 a.m. ET. Live scoring of the North & South Amateur can be found Here, and fans can follow South Carolina women’s golf on Twitter (@GamecockWGolf) for updates throughout the match.
