Harris Shines in International Debut

VALDIVIA, Chile — South Carolina freshman Tyasha Harris made her international debut, handing out a team-high eight assists in the United States’ 117-32 win over Guatemala in the first game of the FIBA U18 Americas Championship Wednesday night in Valdivia, Chile.

Drawing a starting role and playing just under 18 minutes, Harris handed out the first of her eight assists just two minutes into the game. The Americans dominated the interior throughout the game and went on a hot streak from 3-point range in the second quarter to establish a 64-19 halftime lead.

Harris contributed throughout the box score, hitting 4-of-6 from the field, including 1-of-2 from outside the 3-point arc to net nine points to go with her eight assists. She pulled down five rebounds and swiped a pair of steals as well.
