COLUMBIA, S.C. — The accolades continued to roll in for South Carolina women’s soccer forward Savannah McCaskill on Wednesday, as the junior was named the NCAA Soccer Women’s Player of the Week.
McCaskill, who earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Tuesday, combined for seven points in South Carolina’s wins over No. 6 Clemson (Sept. 3) and Charlotte (Sept. 5). She notched her second multi-goal of the season in the victory over the Tigers, South Carolina’s third win over a top-10 foe since 2015, and she added an assist and a goal against the 49ers.
With six goals through six matches, McCaskill ranks fifth nationally in total scoring. Her three game-winning goals top all SEC players, and the Chapin, S.C., native leads the Gamecocks with 15 points overall. McCaskill, who was also named TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Player of the Week on Wednesday, is tied for fourth on the program’s all-time points list with 59 points, and she also ranks in the top 10 in career goals and assists.
No. 15 South Carolina, the only unbeaten team left in the SEC, continues its four-game homestand on Friday when it opens league play against Georgia at Stone Stadium. Kickoff between the Bulldogs and Gamecocks is set for 7 p.m. ET.
