Gamecocks Open Fall at Ivy-Plus Invitational, Southern Intercollegiates

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina men’s tennis team is set to begin fall play this weekend as it splits up between the Ivy-Plus Invitational in Princeton, N.J., and the Southern Intercollegiates in Athens, Ga. A total of eight Gamecocks will compete this weekend, four at each site.

Draws
Representing the Gamecocks at the Ivy-Plus Invitational, co-hosted by Princeton and Penn, will be Gabriel Friedrich, Thomas Mayronne, Harrison O’Keefe and Andrew Schafer. The tournament’s format consists of seven 16-player singles draws, as well as four doubles flights. The field is made up of players from Brown, Buffalo, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Drexel, Harvard, Marist, Michigan, Penn, Penn State, Princeton, St. John’s, Tennessee, Wisconsin, VCU and Yale.

Heading to Georgia for the weekend and participating in the Southern Intercollegiates will be Wood Benton, Scotty Cameron, Yancy Dennis and Sam Swank. Carolina will be one of 32 teams to have players compete. Other schools participating include Arkansas, Armstrong State, Baylor, Belmont, Central Florida, Clemson, East Tennessee State, Eastern Kentucky, Elon, Florida, Gardner-Webb, Georgia, Georgia College, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, Lander, Lipscomb, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi, Mississippi State, UNC Charlotte, Old Dominion, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Tennessee Tech, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech. The field will be separated into three singles divisions and two doubles divisions.
