Gamecocks Face Toughest Test Thus Far in Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite

Sept. 29, 2016

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina puts its best on the line on Friday afternoon against a packed field in the Notre Dame Joe Piane Invitational. Gun time is 4:15 p.m. for the Gold Division race.

The Gamecocks won their first two Division I events against smaller fields, taking the Carolina Challenge and the Winthrop/adidas Invitational team titles. Senior Mary Reiser has led the team in both meets thus far, while freshman Anna Kathryn Stoddard and redshirt junior Martha McCoy have been close behind in each race. Sophomore Allison Mueller has been fourth on the team each time, improving her personal-best time in each race.

That quartet has been supported by juniors Kaylee Wessel, Allie Sprague and Monica York, with Wessel and York both finishing strong at Winthrop in their first race of the season. All three hail from Illinois and will run in front of family in South Bend on Friday afternoon.

Full results will first be at UND.com and DeltaTiming.com for Friday’s race.
