Gamecocks Close Fall at SEC Coaches Classic, Bulldog Scramble

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Gamecock men’s tennis team closes out the 2016 fall season this weekend, Nov. 4-6, as the squad splits up between the SEC Coaches Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and the Bulldog Scramble in Athens, Ga.

“It has been a successful fall so far for our team,” said head coach Josh Goffi. “Three or four of our guys have made breakthroughs, and a few others are still looking for their own. This will be the last opportunity they will have to do so in a collegiate setting this fall. Both tournaments will have great competition and there will be a lot to gain for all of our guys this coming weekend.”

Gabriel Friedrich, Thomas Mayronne, Harrison O’Keefe and Andrew Schafer will represent Carolina at the SEC Coaches Classic, while Scotty Cameron, Alex Fennell and Sam Swank head to the Bulldog Scramble.

Those competing at the SEC Coaches Classic will open with doubles play on Friday morning. Friedrich and O’Keefe take on Kentucky’s Benson and Stefanik at 10 a.m. ET. At the same time, Mayronne and Schafer will play Allwardt and Ross of Vanderbilt. In the afternoon, the foursome will begin singles action. Schafer and O’Keefe kick off their matches at 1:30 p.m. ET, while Friedrich and Mayronne are slated to begin theirs at 3 p.m. ET. The full schedule for Friday’s matches can be found below.

The Bulldog Scramble’s Friday schedule opens with one round of doubles at 10 a.m. ET, followed by two rounds of singles, beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
