Gamecocks Continue Battle at SEC Coaches Classic, Bulldog Scramble

The Gamecock men’s tennis team finished off its second day between the SEC Coaches Classic and the Bulldog Scramble on Saturday.

At the SEC Coaches Classic, the day started with doubles play. Gabriel Friedrich and Harrison O’Keefe kicked things off by winning the third place match in the Ellis Ferreira draw, topping Florida’s Belga and Guillin. Thomas Mayronne and Andrew Schafer dropped their third place match to Kraljevic and Sandkaulen of Mississippi in the Andy Solis draw.

In singles, Friedrich and O’Keefe each posted quarterfinal wins, but both fell in the semifinals of their respective draws. Mayronne and Schafer fell in their consolation matches.

At the Bulldog Scramble, freshman Scotty Cameron continued to impress in singles action. He topped Miami’s Nile Clark in three sets to bring his record on the weekend to 3-0. Alex Fennell also tallied a win as he defeated Princeton’s Kial Kaiser. Sam Swank fell to Walker Duncan of Georgia. In doubles, Fennell and Swank went 0-2 on the day.

Sunday’s action at the SEC Coaches Classic will feature one round of singles beginning at 10 a.m. ET, while play at the Bulldog Scramble is also set to begin at 10 a.m. ET with one round of doubles, followed by one round of singles.
