No. 21 Gamecocks Face Rival Clemson

COLUMBIA, S.C. — No. 21 South Carolina women’s tennis takes on in-state rival, Clemson, for the 52nd time on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. in Clemson, S.C. at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Center. The Gamecocks are off to a 5-1 start following a 4-1 road win over Virginia last Sunday. Unranked Clemson enters the match with a 2-3 record that includes losses to Virginia Tech and No. 6 Georgia.

Head Coach Kevin Epley: “Playing Clemson is always a competitive, in-state battle and we expect some intensity out there on Saturday. We are in a close race with them in the Palmetto Series, so we are going to make every effort to do our part and bring all we can to the match.”

Certified SC Grown Palmetto Series

The winner of Saturday’s match will earn that school another point in the Certified SC Grown Palmetto Series between South Carolina and Clemson. The Gamecocks currently trail 5-6 in the 2016-17 series. In the inaugural Palmetto Series (2015-16), the Gamecocks took the title, 10-5.
