Gamecocks Welcome Gabby Brassard to 2017-18 Roster

May 9, 2017

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Head Coach Boo Major and the University of South Carolina equestrian program are thrilled to announce the signing of Gabby Brassard to a National Letter of Intent. The Scituate, Mass., native will join the Gamecocks for the 2017-18 season.

“It has been a real pleasure getting to know Gabby and her family,” Major said. “Her successes on the ApHC circuit will certainly benefit us in horsemanship.”

A western rider, Brassard is a former ApHc World Champion and Reserve World Champion. She has accumulated nearly 30 national year-end top-10 finishes across a variety of western disciplines.

Brassard is the daughter of Claude and Brenda Brassard and has one brother, John-Claude, an NCAA Division I ice hockey student-athlete at Union (N.Y.) College. She is trained by Alexandra Peak and Jennifer Adams.

The Gamecocks led the nation in NCEA All-Academic honorees last season and add another classroom star to the roster in Brassard. She is a National Honor Society and French National Honor Society member, an honor roll student with a 4.0 GPA and a student council member.

“Gabby’s success in the classroom is always something we like to see from our recruits,” Major added. “We have no doubt she will be successful here at Carolina.”

UP NEXT FOR THE GAMECOCKS

Carolina begins their 2017-18 season in September. The Gamecocks return three All-Americans to a squad that advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2017 NCEA Championship.
