SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – Due to heavy rain and other severe weather in the area, Saturday’s second round of the 2017 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship at Rich Harvest Farms has been cancelled.

As a result of today’s cancellation, the stroke-play portion of the tournament has been cut from 72 holes to 54 holes with the final two rounds being held on Sunday and Monday. The 24-team field will not be cut to 15 schools as originally planned, and the top eight teams following Monday’s third round will advance to match play.

The match play schedule for the NCAA Championship remains unchanged, as the quarterfinals and semifinals are set to take place Tuesday before the finals get underway on Wednesday.

Golf Channel coverage will begin on Monday with pre-game coverage starting at 3 p.m. CT, followed by live coverage at 4 p.m. Both days of match play will also air live on Golf Channel.

The No. 11 Gamecocks sit in seventh place at the tournament following their opening-round 313 (+25) Friday. Freshman Ana Pelaez (T9, +3) and junior Ainhoa Olarra (T13, +4) are both in the top-15 on the individual leaderboard for Carolina, which opens play Sunday at 8:36 a.m. CT on No. 1.

Fans can follow the Gamecocks on Twitter (@GamecockWGolf) for more updates throughout the tournament.
