Live Scoring

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina junior golfer Ainhoa Olarra earned two more match-play victories to advance to the semifinals of the 114th Ladies’ British Open Amateur Championship Friday at Pyle & Kenfig Golf Club in South Wales.

The San Sebastian, Spain, native, who notched a 2&1 opening-round win and a 2-up victory in her second match Thursday, advanced out of the third round this morning after winning the 19th hole in her contest against Denmark’s Line Toft Hansen. Olarra, the No. 39 seed in the match-play bracket, topped Italy’s Alessandra Fanali 4&2 Friday afternoon to secure her spot in the semifinals.

The Gamecock standout will now face Norway’s Stina Resen in Saturday’s semifinal round, and a victory tomorrow morning will send Olarra into the championship match, set for later that day. The winner of the Ladies’ British Open Amateur will earn a spot in next month’s U.S. Women’s Open and August’s Ricoh Women’s British Open. Olarra qualified for match play after finishing inside the top-64 (39th, +7) at the conclusion of 36 holes of stroke play Wednesday.
