Gamecocks Welcome New Mexico to The Graveyard Friday Night

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina (4-3-0, 0-2-0 C-USA) welcomes New Mexico (4-3-0, 0-1-0 C-USA) to Stone Stadium on Friday night at 7 p.m on WatchESPN/SEC Network+. It’ll be the team’s annual Ovarian Cancer Awareness Match. Admission will be $1 for all fans wearing teal.
The team has supported Ovarian Cancer Awareness all month long in September both at home and on the road by wearing teal warmup shirts for their matches. In addition to the shirts, the Gamecock coaching staff and support staff has been wearing teal polo shirts.

The Gamecocks are fresh off their biggest win of the season on Tuesday as they handed No. 13 Furman its first loss of the season, 1-0, in front of 3,049 fans at The Graveyard.

SCOUTING NEW MEXICO
The Lobos came into the year ranked No. 20 in the United Coaches Association Preseason Poll. They’ve played a tough schedule so far in 2017 and are 4-3 heading into Friday night’s C-USA clash. Two of their three losses came to teams ranked in the top-15. Like Furman, New Mexico has a balanced offensive attack with eight different players scoring goals for them this season. Antoine Vial leads the team with six points on three goals. He’s taken just six shots on the year and scored on three of them. Nick Taylor and Luke Lawrence each have scored twice for the Lobos. Aaron Herrera and Devin Boyce are tied for the team lead with three assists. Herrera and Sam Gleadle are tied for the team lead with 13 shots. Gleadle has seven shots on goal and Herrera has six. Goalkeeper Jason Beaulieu has started every match for New Mexico. He’s allowed seven goals (1.00 GAA) and made 24 saves (.774 save percentage) with one shutout.

The Gamecocks hit the road as they continue their tough nonconference slate to face No. 4 Wake Forest (7-1-0, 2-0-0 ACC). Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26 in Winston Salem, N.C. with the game televised on WatchESPN/ACC Network Extra.
