Gamecocks Drop Pair Of Matches To Open ITA Championship

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – South Carolina women’s tennis dropped a pair of tough matches in the opening day of the main draw at the 2017 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships on Thursday. Mia Horvit dropped a 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 contest to Texas Tech’s Gabriela Talaba while Hadley Berg and Paige Cline fell 8-4 to Samantha Harris and Kelly Chen of Duke to close the day.

Horvit is set to continue play in the consolation bracket tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. ET against Rosie Johanson of Virgina. The winner moves on to play at 7:00 p.m. ET later that night.

Berg and Cline will look to rebound in the consolation bracket tomorrow, as well, starting at noon ET against Vladica Babic and Sofia Blanco of Oklahoma State. The winner moves on to play Kate Fahey/Alex Najarian of Michigan.
