Oct. 26, 2017
Equestrian vs. #5 Oklahoma State
Blythewood, S.C. — South Carolina rides at One Wood Farm for the first time this season when it plays host to No. 5 Oklahoma State at 2 p.m. ET on Friday.
The Gamecocks come into the meet looking to halt a two-game losing streak to open up the season.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT ONE WOOD FARM
Not only will Friday be the Gamecocks home opener, but it will also be Carolina’s Pink Meet. Players and coaches will wear pink shirts throughout the meet. There will also be mini-pumpkin decorating at the marketing table while supplies last.
SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
Carolina comes into the meet against the Cowgirls with an 0-2 record on the season following a pair of tough losses on the road to open the season. In her first two meets for the Gamecocks, transfer Madison Brayman boasts a perfect 4-0 record between Equitation on the Flat and Equitation Over Fences.
After her performance for the month of September, Paisley Roberts was named the SEC Rider of the Month for Reining. Madison Thiel, Brayman and Lauren Fabiano have all picked up MOP honors thus far.
SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS
Oklahoma State (1-1, 1-0 Big 12) comes to Columbia looking for its first road win of the season after falling to SMU last week in Dallas, 11-9. The Cowgirls opened the year with an impressive 14-4 victory over then No. 5 Baylor in Stillwater.
THE LAST TIME OUT
The last time out, Carolina swept the hunt seat MOP honors in a 15-4 loss against South Dakota State at the Dehaan Equestrian Center.
Lauren Fabiano (Equitation Over Fences) and Madison Brayman (Equitation on the Flat) took home the MOP honors for the Gamecocks.
SERIES HISTORY
The Gamecocks are 3-2 since 2006-07 against the Cowgirls, with all three wins coming in South Carolina. Carolina won the last meeting between the two squads in 2014 in Stillwater, 12-8. With a Gamecock win on Friday, this would be the first time either team has won two-straight in the series.
