Baseball's Hill Named SEC Pitcher of the Week

Feb. 26, 2018

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – South Carolina junior pitcher Adam Hill has been named the Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced this afternoon (Feb. 26).

Hill was downright dominant in a 7-0 win over Charleston Southern on Friday night. The junior righty set a Founders Park record with 14 strikeouts while not allowing a hit, walk or run to pick up his 11th career win as a Gamecock. He broke the old Founders Park record of 13 punchouts, set by Sam Dyson in 2009. The only base runner to reach off Hill was via a fielding error in the sixth inning. Hill had 100 pitches on the night and had two or more strikeouts in six of the seven frames.

This is Hill’s second career honor from the SEC. He was named SEC Freshman of the Week on March 14, 2016, after wins over Wofford and Charleston Southern.

Hill and the Gamecocks will face Furman this Tuesday (Feb. 27) at 4 p.m. inside Founders Park.
