March 10, 2018
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina beach volleyball team opened its home schedule with a pair of wins Saturday. The Gamecocks took down Jacksonville (0-2) and North Florida (4-5) to push their overall record to 9-1 this season.
In the morning match with the Dolphins, the Gamecocks earned the 4-1 win, with sweeps in all four of the wins. Julia Mannisto and Carly Schnieder provided the clinching point with a 21-16, 21-9 win in the third flight.
South Carolina came in with full focus to close the day against a UNF team that pushed them in last weekend’s tournament in St. Augustine. A focused Gamecock lineup locked down the Ospreys, getting five sweeps for the 5-0 win. North Florida had only one pair score more than 15 points in a single set across the lineup. Macie Tendrich and Leah Perri won their sixth-straight match overall to open the dual, and Ali Denney and Shannon Williams clinched the win with a 21-11, 21-11 win in the number one matchup.
