Oh Named A Finalist For Freshman Of The Year

LOUISVILLE, KY — South Carolina softball’s Kelsey Oh has been named a Top 25 candidate for the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division 1 Freshman of the Year, the National FastPitch Coaches Association announced today.
Joining the Gamecocks from Verona, N.J., this season, Oh has been outstanding in the circle throughout her first season posting a 10-3 record paired with a team-best 1.49 ERA. In 94 innings of action, she’s produced a team-best 92 strikes while holding teams to a low .182 batting average.
The month of April has been especially great to Oh, as she’s pitched some of her best performances of her young career. Including her” Immaculate” inning against Georgia Southern, Oh has performed well in eight April appearances with a 1.55 ERA and 37 strikeouts to help her to a 2-1 record. During the stretch she’s held opposing batters to a .156 batting average.
The list will be trimmed down to the top 10 on May 10 while the top three finalists will be selected and released on May 23. The Schutt Sports/NFCA Division 1 National Freshman of the Year trophy will be presented during a live ceremony at the Women’s College World Series banquet on May 29.
