BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — University of South Carolina senior sprinter Ncincilili Titi was honored as Southeastern Conference Men’s Runner of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. This is Titi’s second SEC weekly award of the season and the third of his Carolina career.
Titi once again grabbed the world’s attention Saturday with a record-breaking performance at the USC Open. In his final collegiate meet at Sheila & Morris Cregger Track, the senior ran 20.00 in the 200m. The time is a new Carolina program record, the fastest outdoor 200m in the NCAA this season and the third-fastest time in the world.
Titi also ran a PR in the 100m on Saturday, moving up to fourth in Carolina history with a mark of 10.16. That’s the 14th-best mark in the nation so far this year.
A seven-time All-American, including two first-team selections, Titi now tops the NCAA leaderboard for the third time in his career. He also held the nation’s No. 1 200m time during the 2017 outdoor and 2018 indoor campaigns.
UP NEXT FOR THE GAMECOCKS
Titi and the Gamecocks head to Philadelphia this week for the 124th running of the Penn Relays. The meet runs April 26-28 at Franklin Field on the Penn campus.
