Kelsey Kearney joined the University of South Carolina staff in June 2017 following a stint with Western Carolina University’s athletics department.
Kearney served as the assistant director of the Catamount Club beginning in August of 2015 where her primary responsibilities included annual fund and major gift fundraising. Kearney was part of a record-setting fundraising team at WCU that raised over $2 million in comprehensive funds during the 2015-16 fiscal year.
Prior to Western Carolina, Kearney spent two years at Virginia Commonwealth University as an assistant women’s soccer coach. During her time there, she helped the Rams lead the A10 in shutouts and earn back-to-back conference tournament bids.
Before joining the Rams, Kearney attended UNC Greensboro where she was a four-year varsity letter winner and a two-time team captain. She led UNCG to three straight regular-season SoCon Championships, an NCAA Tournament appearance and a SoCon Tournament title.
Kearney graduated as the Spartans’ all-time leader in shutouts, career goals against average, and minutes played. Kearney broke the single-season shutout record in 2010 when she helped the Spartans to a top-10 national ranking, earned SoCon Tournament MVP honors and became an NSCAA Scholar All-American.
Kearney holds a master’s from the Center for Sport Leadership from VCU and a B.S from UNC Greensboro in exercise and sports science. The Durham, N.C., native is the daughter of Phil and Connie Kearney and has one younger sister, Sarah.
