13 Gamecocks Named NFCA All-American Scholar-Athletes

COLUMBIA, S.C. —-South Carolina softball had 13 players named NFCAAll-American Scholar-Athletes for the 2017-18 year, the National FastpitchCoaches Association announced today. JordynAugustus, Mackenzie Boesel, Kennedy Clark, Hayley Copeland, Morgan Davis, Tiara Duffy, Jana Johns, Alexis Lindsey, KenziMaguire, Kelsey Oh, Dixie Raley, Anna Vest and KrystanWhite all earned the honor. 
 
The 13 Gamecocks were part of 6,280 student athletes from across the nation to earn NFCAAll-America Scholar-Athlete honors last season. This marks the second-straight year Carolina has had 10 or more representatives. White, Copeland, Clark, Boesel, Duffy and Augustus were named NFCAAll-American Scholar-Athletes for the second-straight season, as well. 

The trio of Johns, Augustus and Boesel finished last season with a perfect 4.0 GPA. 
 
The NFCA’sannouncement today concludes another season of academic success for the Gamecocks that included Boeselbeing named the program’s 10th Academic All-American in school history. 
 
On the field, South Carolina closed the season with a 49-17 record, finishing third in the SEC before hosting its first regional since 2002. The Gamecocks eventually advanced to the Tempe Super Regional, marking the second time in program history Carolina has advanced to the super regional round of the NCAA Postseason Tournament.
