Gamecocks Return To Palmetto State For Charleston Classic

COLUMBIA, S.C. —-South Carolina cross country returns to action once more this weekend when it competes Saturday at the 2018 Charleston Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston. Action for the Gamecocks begins at 9:45 AM with a 5K race around Johns Island County Park. 
 
The Gamecocks will be joined by Brevard, Charleston Southern, Savannah State, Savannah College of Art and Design, South Carolina State, St. Andrews and Wesleyan (Ga.).  
 
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
Directions to the exact address for the meet can be found here. The course, a flat and scenic course consisting mostly of grass with some dirt trails provides ample viewing for spectators and will have bus and car parking located at the event venue. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
South Carolina cross country finished sixth out of 18 teams last Friday at the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame at the Burke Golf Course. Senior Allie Mueller led the way for the Gamecocks finishing 11th with a time of 17:51.26, her collegiate 5K personal best. This marked the second-straight season Mueller set a collegiate personal best at the Joe Piane Invitational.
 
In total, Carolina had five finishers inside the top-50. Heather Stone was the second Gamecock to finish with a time of 18:06.61 to finish 22nd. Anna Stoddard posted an 18:25.97 to finish 35th while Sarah-Sims McGrath’s time of 18:33.88 placed her in 42ndCailin Saylor round out the top-50 with a time of 18:40.72.
