Stone Leads Gamecocks In SEC Championship

FULL RESULTS 
 
AUBURN, AL. —- South Carolina cross country’s Heather Stone finished as Carolina’s top finisher for the fourth time this season as the Gamecocks took 13th Friday at the 2018 SEC Cross Country Championship at Indian Pines Golf Course. Stone finished 40th with a time of 20:33.38 to help Carolina to four top-90 finishers out of 132 runners. 
 
As a team, the Gamecocks averaged a 21:05 with team total of 1:45.23. 
 
Anna Kathryn Stoddard posted her highest Carolina placement of 2018 with a time of 20:57.35 to finish 64th overall. Allie Mueller, running in her final SEC Cross Country Championship, posted a 75th –place finish thanks to her time of 21:06.31. 
 
Kelsey Larkin and Brooke Wilson rounded out the Gamecocks’ top-five finishers. Larkin’s time of 21:20.70 was good enough for an 89th-place finish while Wilson finished 92nd with a time of 21:24.70. 
 
Freshman Cailin Saylor was shortly behind in her first SEC Championship, finishing 95th with a time of 21:27.97. 
 
Colleen Openshaw was next for the Gamecocks, finishing with a time of 21:38.01 to take 102nd. Sarah-Sims McGrath was 103rd with a time of 21:38.85. 
 
Maryah Nasir and Leah Ford closed the day for Carolina. Nasir finished 105th with a time of 21:39.89 while Ford finished with a time of 23:09.62.
