Cline Places Third at Kitty Harrison Invitational
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – South Carolina senior Paige Cline placed third after going undefeated at the Kitty Harrison Invitational hosted by North Carolina at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
On the final day of competition, Cline defeated NC State’s No. 66-ranked Anna Rogers, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (5). Cline went 3-0 at the tournament with two wins coming over ranked opponents.
The Gamecocks played opposite of the Wolfpack on Sunday, earning four wins. No. 96 Mia Horvit edge by No. 59 Adriana Reami, 6-0, 3-6, 1-0 (6). Silvia Chinellato earned a victory after topping Liz Norman in identical sets, 6-3, 6-3. Rounding out Carolina’s wins, Rachel Rohrabacher defeated Bianca Moldovan, 6-4, 6-3.
No. 81 Megan Davies was not able to overcome Alana Smith, falling, 6-2, 6-3. Wicker dropped her match, 6-2, 6-1, against Amanda Rebol.
Up next, five Gamecocks in Ingrid Gamarra Martins, Cline, Horvit, Davies and Rohrabacher travel to Surprise, Ariz., for the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, taking place from November 7-11.
