Gamecocks Take On NCAA Southeast Regional Friday

ROCK HILL, S.C. —-South Carolina cross country returns to the course for postseason action Friday in the 2018 NCAA Southeast Cross Country Regional at Winthrop University. Carolina is set to run at 11:00 a.m. in the women’s 6K, which will be followed by the men’s 10K at noon.

2018 NCAA SOUTHEAST CROSS COUNTRY REGIONAL INFORMATION
Fans wishing to attend the Regional can find the course at Winthrop at 1162 Eden Terrace / Winthrop Coliseum. 
 
Merchandise will be available at the course for purchase from 2:00 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. through the conclusion of the second race.

LAST TIME OUT 
South Carolina cross country’s Heather Stone finished as Carolina’s top finisher for the fourth time this season as the Gamecocks took 13th two Fridays ago at the 2018 SEC Cross Country Championship at Indian Pines Golf Course. Stone finished 40th with a time of 20:33.38 to help Carolina to four top-90 finishers out of 132 runners. 
 
As a team, the Gamecocks averaged a 21:05 with team total of 1:45.23. 
 
LAST TIME OUT AT THE NCAA SOUTHEAST CROSS COUNTRY REGIONAL (2017)
South Carolina’s 2017 cross country season came to an end as the Gamecocks finished 19th out of 41 squads at the NCAA Southeast Regional IN Charlottesville, Va. Anna Kathryn Stoddard was once again Carolina’s top finisher, pacing the Gamecocks at Panorama Farms.
Stoddard came home in 22:15.4 to finish 79th individually. The Greenwood, S.C., native got stronger as the race went on, passing 17 competitors after checking in 96th at the first split. She paced the Gamecocks in each of her five appearances this year.
 
 FULL SCHEDULE 
10:35 a.m. – National Anthem 
11:00 a.m. – Women’s 6K Championship Race
Noon p.m. – Men’s 10K Championship Race
Following second race – Recognition of top runners and teams
