Allden to Host USATF Level 1 School This Weekend


2018 USATF LEVEL 1 SCHOOL

COLUMBIA, S.C. — University of South Carolina track & field assistant coach Andrew Allden will direct a USATF Level 1 School from Dec. 14-16 in Columbia, and registration is still available. Local track & field coaches are welcome to register for the three-day event, with training topics including biomechanics, track & field psychology, training theory, endurance and more.

Registration costs $255 and a current USATF membership is required. Registration can be found here.

This year’s Level 1 clinic will be held at the Carolina Volleyball Center, located at 1051 Blossom Street in Columbia. Parking will be available in Lot N2, at the corner of Blossom and Assembly Streets.

Currently the coach of the women’s cross country team at the University of South Carolina, Allden will lecture on positive coaching, philosophy, risk management and training theory at this year’s clinic. He is a USATF Level 1 and Level 2 instructor and has 23 years of experience as a Division I collegiate coach. He has coached an NCAA Division I men’s national champion in the 800m and in 2003 was named the USTFCCCA Southeast Region Men’s Coach of the Year. Allden has been involved with coaching education for over 20 years and is the founder of the Running Summit, a multi-city coaching education course for endurance coaches.
