Boesel Named To USA Softball Player of the Year Watch List

COLUMBIA, S.C. —- South Carolina softball’s Mackenzie Boesel was named to the 2019 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Watch List, the organization announced today. Boesel is one of 50 student-athletes from around the country to be named to the list. 
 
A Yorba Linda, Calif., native, Boesel led the Gamecocks in 2017 with a .360 batting average, 53 runs, 73 hits, 18 doubles, 47 RBI and a .596 slugging percentage in her 66 starts. After a .373 batting average in conference games last season, the Southeastern Conference recently named her to its 2019 Preseason All-SEC Team, as well. 
 
Freshman are not eligible for the Top 50 Watch List but will be considered for the Top 25 Player of the Year Finalists later in the season. 
 
The list will eventually be narrowed down to the Top 25 Finalists (April 24) before it is narrowed down to the Top 10 (May 8), the Top 3 (May 22) and ultimately the winner (May 28).
