Gamecocks Sweep Presbyterian

Carolina remains perfect at the Carolina Tennis Center following its third-consecutive 7-0 sweep at home.

COLUMBIA, S.C.- South Carolina men’s tennis (5-1) remained perfect at home with a third-consecutive sweep as they defeated Presbyterian College (7-2), 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Carolina Tennis Center.

Carolina won all three doubles courts as the No. 2 pair of Jake Beasley and Yancy Dennis responded from an early deficit to clinch the doubles team point with a 6-4 win.

“The goal was to be sharp– our goal was just to be on point.” said Head Coach Josh Goffi. “We got a little sloppy in some spots but we had some good recoveries and we’ll certainly take the positives from those.”

The Gamecocks carried their momentum into singles play where they put up six wins in straight sets.  Daniel Rodrigues (6-0, 6-2) and Jake Beasley (6-1, 6-1) each cruised to wins on courts two and six to put the Gamecocks up 3-0.

Joseph Brailovsky later finished off Presbyterian’s Jaime Castillo-Lopez 6-4, 6-3 to seal the team win for South Carolina at 4-0.
