Gamecocks Get No. 7 Seed for NCEA Championship
WACO, Texas – The South Carolina equestrian team earned the No. 7 seed for the NCEA Championship hosted by Baylor from April 17-20 at the Extraco Events Center.
In the team bracket, the Gamecocks (6-8, 1-5 SEC) face off against No. 2-seeded Texas A&M (10-5, 2-4 SEC) on Thursday, April 18, at 9:30 a.m. ET in the quarterfinals.
This season, the Aggies took both of the meets against Carolina, 9-8 and then 13-6. Overall Texas A&M leads the series, 14-10.
All event championships begin on Wednesday, April 15, and will take the day off on Thursday for the first two rounds of the team bracket.
South Carolina faces Fresno State in the Equitation Over Fences competition at 9:30 a.m. ET. In their Nov., meet, the Gamecocks topped Fresno State, 4-1, in fences.
Also seeing Fresno State in Equitation on the Flat, the two programs face off at 2:30 p.m. ET. Last time out, Carolina earned the flat win, 3-2.
Competing against Fresno State in another first-round matchup, the Gamecocks and Bulldogs go head-to-head at 3 p.m. ET in Horsemanship. Earlier this season, they tied the event score, 2-2.
In Reining, South Carolina and TCU will rematch at 9:30 a.m. ET. When the two schools went against each other in Feb., the Horned Frogs and Gamecocks knotted in Reining, 2-2.
