The Gamecocks went 2-2 on the week, defeating Charlotte on Tuesday and Florida on Friday.

COLUMBIA –The University of South Carolina baseball team went 2-2 on the week, defeating Charlotte, 5-4, on Tuesday night at Founders Park before falling in 2-of-3 games at Florida, winning Friday’s game 6-3 with a strong start from Cam Tringali.

NOTES:
Carolina picked up its eighth one-run win on Tuesday night, defeating Charlotte 5-4 at Founders Park. It was Carolina’s 11th win by one or two runs. Andrew Eyster had a solo home run in the sixth inning that gave the Gamecocks a lead it would never relinquish.

Cam Tringali had a strong start in Carolina’s 6-3 win over Florida on Friday night. The redshirt freshman from Columbia went six-plus innings, allowing just four hits with one earned run and three strikeouts with no walks. Tringali earned the win against the Gators, his second of the season.

The Gamecocks hit four home runs in Friday night’s win. George Callil and Luke Berryhill went deep in the third inning while Quinntin Perez and Chris Cullen went yard in the fourth. After the Florida series, the Gamecocks have hit 57 home runs on the season.

Brett Kerry pitched the final 2.1 innings in Friday’s win over Florida, and while he didn’t pick up a save, he struck out a pair and got out of jams in the seventh and ninth innings to preserve the win. Kerry is 3-1 with a 2.10 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 34.1 innings pitched this season.

Carolina heads to Charlotte for the second time this season on Tuesday night, facing North Carolina at 7 p.m. at BB&T Ballpark. The Gamecocks then play their third straight Thursday-Saturday series in a row, hosting Texas A&M at Founders Park. Saturday’s game will be televised on SEC Network.
