Price Earns SEC Freshman of the Week Honor
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s golf freshman Emily Price has been tabbed the SEC Women’s Co-Freshman Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. The accolade marks the first weekly conference for the first-year Gamecock.
The Ludlow, England, native turned in an impressive performance for the Gamecocks at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. She contributed to all three South Carolina victories on their way to the title. Price finished 2-0-1 in three matches for the Gamecocks and in a tie for seventh individually after stroke play. Carolina’s victory at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic is the first event victory for the team this season and the first match-play title in program history.
Price has appeared in six tournaments this season, and has competed in 16 rounds of stroke play. She holds a stroke average of 73.00 this season, the second best on the team behind junior Lois Kaye Go. She’s carded nearly half of her matches under par this season, and has three top-10 finishes.
Price and Carolina begin postseason play on Wed., April 17, in Birmingham, Ala., at the 2019 SEC Championships. The stroke and match-play event will again be contested at Greystone Country Club.
