Price Named to Latest ANNIKA Award Watch List

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina freshman women’s golfer Emily Price has been named to the latest ANNIKA Award Watch List, Golfweek announced Tuesday. Price is one of 15 student-athletes currently in contention for the national honor, which recognizes the top female U.S. collegiate golfer.
 
The ANNIKA Award Watch List will be updated one more times this spring. The final Watch List (mid-May) will reduce the list to the top-10 individuals. The winner, which will be determined by players, coaches and members of the golf media, will be revealed in June.
 
Price has moved up the individual rankings since participating in her first collegiate tournament in October. She’s currently ranked No. 11 in the latest Golfstat rankings, the second highest freshman in the nation and the highest freshman in the SEC. Her 72.78 stroke average this season is a freshman record and the seventh best single-season stroke average (min. 18 rounds).
 
Price finished in a tie for fifth during the stroke play portion of the 2019 SEC Championships, the best finish by a freshman at the SEC Championships in program history. She’s finished in the top 10 in four of her seven career tournament events. In the match play portion of the SEC Championships she helped lead the Gamecocks to the championship match and a week early to a title at the 2019 Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic.
 
No. 11 South Carolina will learn their postseason fate tonight during the 2019 NCAA Women’s Golf Selection Show. The show will be seen on Golf Channel on Wed., April 24, at 5:30 p.m. ET.
