Black Tops Garnet in Equestrian Exhibition
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Black prevailed over Garnet as the South Carolina equestrian team got the competitive juices flowing with a scrimmage on Friday at One Wood Farm.
In the jumping seat competitions Madeline Schaefer of the black squad took Most Outstanding Player over fences with a score of 85. Louisa Brackett tallied an 83 in the flat to earn M.O.P. honors for the black team.
The lone garnet M.O.P. was Sloane Vogt in horsemanship with a 74.5, while Natalie Vargo took M.O.P. in reining with a score of 73.
The team used this as a tune up for next week’s season opener against Fresno State. The action gets underway at 2 p.m. at One Wood Farm in Blythewood.
