Gamecocks Ready for Debbie Southern Fall Classic
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina women’s tennis team is set for its first road tournament of the season, heading to Greenville, S.C., for the Debbie Southern Fall Classic hosted by Furman from Friday to Sunday at the Mickel Tennis Center.
Coming off of their home tournament, the Gamecocks look forward to more successes this weekend. At the South Carolina Fall Invitational, freshmen Emma Shelton and Elise Mills competed for the Silver singles title with Shelton coming out on top. In doubles, Shelton and junior Megan Davies took the crown.
The Debbie Southern Fall Classic marks the first tournament of the year where the competitors will be ranked. For Carolina, senior Mia Horvit sits at No. 49, while Davies comes in at No. 125.
Doubles play will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, followed by singles at 1 p.m. Play will continue on Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 9 a.m. each day.
