Roussin-Bouchard’s Record Day Lifts Gamecocks to Second at Windy City Classic

Golf, Ill. Freshman Pauline Roussin-Bouchard’s second round 65 (-7) fueled a push as the South Carolina women’s golf team sits in second place with a round to go at the Windy City Collegiate Classic.

“I’m very proud of the team’s performance today,” head coach Kalen Anderson said. “Pauline’s performance was exceptional, and the other four players backed her with consistency. Thirty-six hole days are demanding both mentally and physically, and all five players were solid all day long. A strong finish was key. We are looking forward to being in the mix tomorrow.”

Roussin-Bouchard’s 7-under (65) is the lowest freshman round in program history, besting Nanna Madsen’s 66 from the 2014 Landfall Tradition. The freshman sits in first place with a 9-under for the tournament so far.

The No. 14 Gamecocks started the day well enough, shooting a 288 (Even) in the opening round, but kicked things into a new gear in the second round by shooting a 279, tied for the fifth lowest round score in team history, to move into second place with 18 holes to go.

Emily Price continues to be consistent for the Garnet and Black, finishing the second round in a tie for 15th place with a 1-under through 36 holes.

A pair of Gamecocks are tied for 23rd place with Lois Kaye Go and Mathilde Claisse notching scores of 145 (+1) today.

Ana Pelaez rounded out the scores for Carolina with a 146 (+2) through the first two rounds.

Anita Uwadia is also competing at the Windy City Collegiate Classic as an individual. She bounced back after a rough first round to shoot 74 (+2) in the second round.

The final round gets underway tomorrow at the Glen View Golf Club. Ana Pelaez gets things going with a 10 a.m. ET tee time.
