Third-straight year Carolina has had 10 or more earn the honor

LOUISVILLE, Ky. —- South Carolina softball had 10 players named NFCA All-American Scholar-Athletes for the 2018-19 year, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Wednesday. Mackenzie Boesel, Kennedy Clark, Cayla Drotar, Alexis Lindsey, Morgan Davis, Kenzi Maguire, Kelsey Oh, Madison Owens, Dixie Raley and Anna Vest all earned the honor.

The 10 Gamecocks were part of more than 8,000 student-athletes, a first in NFCA history, to be named 2019 All-American Scholar-Athletes. This marks the third-straight year Carolina has had 10 or more representatives. Boesel and Clark were each named NFCA All-American Scholar Athletes for the third-straight year while Maguire, Davis, Oh, Raley and Vest were named for the second-consecutive school calendar.

As for the program, Carolina finished the year with the second-best team GPA in the Southeastern Conference.

The NFCA’s announcement today concludes another season of academic success for the Gamecocks that included Boesel being named a COSIDA Academic All-American for the second-straight year.

On the field, Carolina finished with a 38-19 season in which it advanced to its fourth-straight regional final under head coach Beverly Smith and the program’s seventh-consecutive postseason berth to set a new record for consecutive years in regional action.
