Pair of Personal Records Leads Gamecocks in Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Led by a pair of personal records, South Carolina women’s cross country competed at the Royals Cross Country Challenge on Friday afternoon at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, N.C.
Sophomore Maryah Nasir crossed the finish line first for Carolina with a personal record time of 18:10.1, besting her previous time by 10 seconds. Her time was good enough for a 25th place finish overall.
“We’re very pleased with Maryah’s personal record today,” South Carolina Cross Country coach Andres Allden said. “She continues to have a very solid season. WE won’t have her next week, but she will be ready to go to conference. Overall, our 14th-place finish out of 63 teams was solid.”
Senior Morgan Adams also was able to achieve a personal record in Charlotte. The Cary, N.C., native finished with a time of 19:09.8, 18 seconds faster than her previous best time that was set earlier this season at the Adidas XC Challenge.
Just three seconds apart, Kelsey Larkin and Sarah-Sims McGrath finished in 84th and 89th with times of 18:56 and 18:59, respectively.
