Gamecocks Excel on ITA Regional Day Two

CARY, N.C. — Day two of the ITA Carolina Regional saw the South Carolina men’s tennis team carry over its success from Friday. Two of the Gamecocks’ doubles teams advanced to Sunday’s third round, while three of the Gamecocks won their singles match to move on to the round of 16.
 
The doubles draw saw two Gamecock pairs advance on to Sunday’s round of 16. After having a bye in the first round, sophomores and number one overall doubles seed Daniel Rodrigues and Raphael Lambling defeated Milo Bargeron and Alex Pavkovich from Appalachian St. 8-2. Connor Thomson and Phillip Jordan won both of their matches, knocking off UNCG’s pair of Oliver Palmer and Nico Grewe 8-2 in the first round, then Julian Chosa and Omar Williams of Wofford 8-4 in the second.
 
In the singles portion of the day, Rodrigues, Lambling and Thomson all won their matches in straight sets to advance on to the round of 16 Sunday. The Gamecocks currently hold a 12-3 record as a team in the singles draw.
