Jubb Moves Into Oracle/ITA Top-10

Paul Jubb came in at No. 4 in the nation, the highest singles ranking at Carolina since 2001.

COLUMBIA, S.C.- South Carolina men’s tennis junior Paul Jubb came in at No. 4 in the country in the latest Oracle/ITA Singles Rankings which were announced Wednesday.  Jubb is the highest-ranked singles player in Carolina program history since former All-American Guillaume Legat finished the 2001 season at No. 4 in the country.

The Gamecocks, which came in at No. 31 in this week’s team rankings, had three total players crack the ITA Top-125 with No. 76 Daniel Rodrigues and No. 95 Raphael Lambling each climbing to career-best rankings this week.

Jubb won his third and fourth-consecutive singles matches in straight sets in the Gamecocks’ 4-3 wins over Clemson and Georgia Tech this past weekend, improving his overall singles record to 16-2 on the season.  He had previously been ranked as high as No. 7 so far this season and is unbeaten in singles this spring, winning each of his four matches in straight sets.

The Gamecocks’ No. 1 singles player to begin the spring, Jubb is 6-2 against nationally ranked opponents this season including a 6-2, 6-0 win over No. 38 Carlos Divar of Gerogia Tech this past Saturday.

South Carolina went 2-0 last weekend with 4-3 wins at home over Clemson and Georgia Tech.  The Gamecocks look to extend an active six-match win streak this weekend as it hosts Georgia State on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
