Carolina Defeats Oklahoma, 4-0; Advances to Championship Match

COLUMBIA, S.C. No. 15 South Carolina got off to a strong start and never looked back, defeating No. 22 Oklahoma, 4-0, in its first match of the 2020 ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The Gamecocks jumped out to an early lead in singles after securing the doubles point to finish off the Sooners.
 
In doubles, the pair of redshirt-freshman Phillip Jordan and sophomore Beau Pelletier beat Jochen Bertsch and Mark Mandlik, 6-0. Senior Paul Jubb and freshman Connor Thomson were able to clinch the doubles point for the Gamecocks, defeating Mason Beiler and Max Stewart, 6-3.
 
In singles, the Gamecocks beat the Sooners in straight sets at the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 positions to secure the victory. No. 106 Thomson got things going for Carolina, taking down Alex Martinez, 6-0, 6-2. Sophomore No. 39 Raphael Lambling defeated Stefano Tsorotiotis, 6-2, 6-0, claiming the second singles point, while Jordan took the second ranked win of his career, besting No. 116 Jochen Bertsch, 6-1, 6-3.
