Gamecocks Reveal 2020 Cross Country Schedule
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Cross Country team has announced its 2020 schedule, which includes three meets before the 2020 SEC Cross Country Championships that will be held in Baton Rouge, La.
“We are very excited to get back to competing,” South Carolina Cross Country head coach Andrew Allden said. “Our top priority remains to provide a safe and healthy environment for our student-athletes. Part of our diligence in this regard is avoiding overnight travel throughout the season. We are really looking forward to running against people in different color uniforms.”
As announced by the SEC on Sept. 4, the 2020 SEC women’s cross-country season will consist of a minimum of two and a maximum of three competitions prior to the SEC Championship in Baton Rouge on Oct. 30. The season will take place between September 11 and October 23 and may include competition against non-conference opponents provided those schools adhere to SEC COVID-19 testing protocols.
Carolina’s closest meet to Columbia will be in Athens, Ga., on Sept. 17 at the Bulldog Invitational on the UGA Golf Course. The meet is scheduled for a 4.5K and will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Two weeks later the Gamecocks will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., for the FSU Invitational on Oct. 2. The meet will be a 5K at the Apalachee Regional Park.
The regular season will culminate on Oct. 16 in Hoover, Ala., at the UAB Blazer Classic. The meet will take place at the Montevallo Cross Country course, the same course UAB is set to host the 2020 Conference USA Championships.
South Carolina’s only postseason competition will take place at its 30th SEC Championships in Baton Rouge, La., on Oct. 30.
