Gamecocks Dominate Day 2 of Fall SEC Scramble

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina men’s tennis claimed wins in 10 of the 12 singles and doubles matches played today against Kentucky on the second day of the Gamecock Fall SEC Scramble at Carolina Tennis Center. The Gamecocks swept the four doubles matches and four Gamecocks picked up their first singles wins of the season.
 
The Gamecock Fall SEC Scramble wraps up on Sunday with the Gamecocks taking on Georgia at 10:30 a.m.
 
Gamecock Notables

• Juniors Beau Pelletier and Daniel Rodrigues are both undefeated in singles in the tournament so far. Pelletier has not lost yet in the tournament as he and doubles partner Thomas Brown have won both their matches as well.
• At the top of the doubles lineup, Raphael Lambling and Phillip Jordan made it a Gamecock doubles sweep with a service break in the final game for an 8-6 win.
• Junior Daniel Rodrigues had an especially strong day, yielding just four games between his doubles and singles matches. Paired with sophomore Connor Thomson in doubles, the duo took down Kentucky’s Joshua Lapadat and Alexandre LeBlanc 8-3, winning the last four games of the set. In singles, Rodrigues overpowered Lapadat from the opening serve to claim a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
• Freshman Toby Samuel notched the first singles win of his Gamecock career. After dropping the first set, the young Brit powered home at 2-6, 6-3. 6-2 victory over Alexandre LeBlanc.
• Junior Raphael Lambling picked up his first singles win of the season, grabbing an early break against Millen Hurrion en route to a 6-2, 6-4 victory.
• Sophomore Phillip Jordan flipped his result from Friday’s match, winning Saturday by the same score, 6-1, 6-3, over Ying-Ze Chen, for his first win of the season.
• Senior Thomas Brown dominated Heman Nama with a 6-1, 6-1 victory for his first singles win of the season.
