Gamecocks Close Out Bulldog Invitational With Three Wins

One More Fall Event Left for South Carolina Next Weekend

ATHENS, Ga. — The South Carolina women’s tennis team closed out the Bulldog Invitational in Athens, Ga., on Sunday with singles victories from Silvia Chinellato, Emma Shelton and Elise Mills.

All three Gamecocks won their matches in straight sets against opponents from Georgia. Chinellato defeated Morgan Coppoc 7-6, 6-0, Shelton took down Ania Hertel 6-3, 6-2, and Mills cruised by Alee Clayton 6-1, 6-2.

Megan Davies, Gabriela Martinez, Corina Spasojevic and Kendall Couch dropped their contests with the Bulldogs in straight sets. Mia Horvit fell to Georgia as well, withdrawing from the match with an injury after losing the first set.

Lindsay Tulenko was the only Gamecock to not face off with Georgia on Sunday, instead taking on Maialen Morante from Kentucky. Tulenko dropped the match 6-2, 6-4.

Chinellato and Shelton were South Carolina’s top performers at the Bulldog Invitational. After losing their singles matches and one doubles match together Friday, they rebounded with unbeaten records on Saturday and Sunday to finish the weekend with a 2-1 record in doubles and each had 2-1 marks for singles.

South Carolina ends its fall season in November with players competing unattached in a UTR event.
