Garnet Picks Up 11-1 Win in Game 3 of the Garnet and Black World Series

Mag Cotto struck out six and Brandon Fields joined Brady Allen with three RBI apiece.

COLUMBIA – The Garnet team picked up its first win in the Garnet and Black World Series with a 11-1 triumph over the Black team Friday night (Oct. 30) at Founders Park.
 
All 11 runs by the Garnet squad were picked up between the third and fifth frames. George Callil and Connor Cino had two hits apiece while Brandon Fields and Brady Allen drove in three runs apiece. Joe Satterfield and David Mendham had two RBI’s on the night. Fields also had his second home run in as many days, a three-run shot to left in the fifth inning.
 
Magdiel Cotto earned the win for the Garnet team, striking out six in four innings of work. He allowed three hits and a run with a walk. Brett Kerry pitched two scoreless innings of relief, striking out five.
 
For the Black team, Wes Clarke had his second home run in as many days, a laser to left. He joined Michael Robinson with two hits on the night. Will Sanders was tagged with the loss. He had two strikeouts in three-plus innings, allowing five earned runs.
 
Game four of the 2020 Garnet and Black World Series is scheduled for Monday afternoon (Nov. 2) at 3 p.m. The game will be streamed on Facebook Live.
