- With great team offensive balance and depth, no individual Gamecocks’ numbers are particularly gaudy this season. With only Tyasha Harris ranked among the SEC’s top 30 in minutes played, a better stat metric for South Carolina is average per 40 minutes. By that measure, Aliyah Boston is at 22.5 points and 15.4 rebounds per 40 minutes. Mikiah Herbert Harrigan sees her numbers rise to 19.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per 40 minutes.
- South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley is among 15 coaches on the Werner Ladder Naismith Women’s Coach of the Year Late Season 2020 List.
- The Gamecocks have built a reputation for dominance in the first and third quarters this season, out-scoring opponents by 11.8 and 7.7 points in those periods, respectively. Opponents have scored just 10.8 points per first quarter against the Gamecocks this season. South Carolina averages 22.6 points in the first and 22.4 points in the third quarter. - Senior Tyasha Harris is on all four national player of the year mid/late season watch lists, and South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley has been advocating for her to be strongly considered for SEC Player of the Year honors as well. With value that is not measured purely in her individual stats, Harris’ steady, veteran hand at the point guard position has been a significant reason for the Gamecocks’ success this season.
