Baseball Hosts The Citadel Tuesday Night

The Gamecocks and Bulldogs meet for the second time this season.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina baseball team opens a five-game homestand this Tuesday night (March 23) when the Gamecocks welcome The Citadel to Founders Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday’s game will be televised on SEC Network with Anish Shroff and David Dellucci on the call. Every Gamecock contest will be on the Gamecock Radio Network with Derek Scott and Tommy Moody on the call. The Gamecocks took Sunday’s game against No. 2 Vanderbilt, 6-5, as Brett Kerry struck out 10 in the win and Brady Allen and Braylen Wimmer had three hits and a home run apiece.

PARKING INFORMATION
For the 2021 season, there will not be shuttles from either the Key Road Gravel Lot or the Colonial Life Arena parking lot. There will be passes at lot 1 available for $10 apiece.

SCOUTING THE CITADEL
The Bulldogs won one game in their Wofford series, winning 5-3 in the series opener. Tyler Corbitt and Ryan McCarthy had two hits and two RBI apiece while Jake Pilarski struck out six in the win. Jeffrey Brown leads The Citadel with a .373 batting average while McCarthy has 12 RBI.
 
SERIES VS. THE CITADEL
Carolina holds a 137-49-1 series advantage on The Citadel heading into Tuesday’s game. The two teams met on March 10 with the Gamecocks winning 11-7 in Charleston. Josiah Sightler drove in four runs in the win while Andrew Peters struck out five in 2.2 innings of relief.
 
KERRY K’S COMMODORES
Junior Brett Kerry struck out 10 in 5.2 innings of relief as Carolina won the series finale against No. 2 Vanderbilt, 6-5, on Sunday afternoon (March 21). Kerry allowed just three hits and did not walk a batter in his appearance to move to 2-0 on the season. Kerry currently has a 0.64 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched.

CAROLINA CALLS CONTINUES THURSDAY NIGHT
Head Coach Mark Kingston will be on Carolina Calls Thursday night (March 25) from 7-8 p.m. at Home Team Barbecue in Five Points. The show will be broadcast on the Gamecock Radio Network with Derek Scott as the host.

UP NEXT
Carolina opens home conference play this weekend against No. 5 Florida. Friday’s game begins at 7 p.m. with Saturday and Sunday’s games at 4 and 12 p.m., respectively. Sunday’s game will be televised on SEC Network.
