Baseball Hosts Gardner-Webb Tuesday Night at Founders Park

The Gamecocks and Runnin' Bulldogs will meet with a 7 p.m. first pitch.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina baseball team ends its five-game homestand on Tuesday night as the Gamecocks welcome Gardner-Webb to Founders Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be streamed on SEC Network Plus. Every Gamecock contest will be on the Gamecock Radio Network with Derek Scott and Tommy Moody on the call. Carolina is coming off a three-game sweep of No. 5 Florida this past weekend, which included a 9-8, 14-inning win on Friday night as Colin Burgess’ RBI double clinched the walk-off win.

PARKING INFORMATION
For the 2021 season, there will not be shuttles from either the Key Road Gravel Lot or the Colonial Life Arena parking lot. There will be passes at lot 1 available for $10 apiece.

SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
The Bulldogs have won four games in a row, which included a sweep of High Point this past weekend. Mason Miller threw seven innings and struck out five in Friday’s 6-3 win over the Panthers. Mitch McLendon leads the Bulldogs with a .279 average while Keiji Parkhurst has 13 RBI on the year. Miller has 35 strikeouts in 32.2 innings and is 2-1 on the year with a 3.03 ERA.
 
SERIES VS. GARDNER-WEBB
The Gamecocks and Runnin’ Bulldogs each have won two games in the all-time series. The last meeting was in 2019 with Gardner-Webb winning 10-2 on March 6. Jacob Olson had three hits in that game.
 
GAMECOCKS SWEEP GATORS FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2006
Carolina swept Florida for the first time since 2006 as the Gamecocks moved to 4-2 in SEC play. Friday’s game went 5:31 and 14 innings, capped off by a Colin Burgess RBI double for a 9-8 win. Brannon Jordan allowed one unearned run in seven innings and Wes Clarke belted a three-run home run in a 4-1 win on Saturday and the Gamecocks hit five home runs on Sunday in an 8-5 win. The sweep was the first for the Gamecocks in SEC play since Carolina won three games against LSU in 2018.

CAROLINA CALLS CONTINUES WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Head Coach Mark Kingston will be on Carolina Calls Wednesday night (March 31) from 7-8 p.m. at Home Team Barbecue in Five Points. The show will be broadcast on the Gamecock Radio Network with Derek Scott as the host.

Carolina heads to Athens, Ga., to face Georgia in a three-game series starting Friday night (April 2) at Foley Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
